NEAR Frontiers | Mimarlık Araştırmalarında İnsan Deneyiminin Nörobilimi Sempozyumu ve Çalıştayı‘nı duyurmaktan büyük heyecan duyuyoruz.
NEAR Frontiers 2026, iki aşamalı olarak tasarlanmış uluslararası bir etkinliktir. NEAR Frontiers Sempozyumu, 27-29 Temmuz 2026 tarihleri arasında; NEAR Frontiers Çalıştayı ise 30 Temmuz-21 Ağustos 2026 tarihleri arasında İTÜ ARI Teknokent ARI 3 Binası’nda gerçekleştirilecektir.
Etkinlik, İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi (İTÜ) ve İTÜ ARI Teknokent ev sahipliğinde, İTÜ Mimarlık Fakültesi bünyesinde kurulan NEAR Lab (Neuroscience of Human Experience in Architectural Research Laboratory) ile Aalborg Üniversitesi BBAR Lab (Brain, Behaviour and Architecture Research Laboratory) iş birliğinde ve TÜBİTAK 2221 Konuk Bilim İnsanı Destekleme Programı kapsamında düzenlenmektedir.
NEAR Frontiers 2026, Türkiye’den ve dünyanın farklı ülkelerinden önde gelen araştırmacıları, akademisyenleri ve profesyonelleri bir araya getirerek disiplinler arası perspektifle ortak üretimi teşvik etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Sempozyum ve çalıştay programı, akademik araştırma ile mesleki pratiği buluşturan oturumlar, paneller, yuvarlak masa buluşmaları ve uygulamalı atölyeler aracılığıyla mimarlığın geleceğine yönelik yeni tartışma alanları açmayı hedeflemektedir.

NEAR Frontiers Sempozyumu, alanında seçkin akademisyenleri ve uygulayıcıları bir araya getirerek “Kuram”, “Yöntem” ve “Mesleki Uygulamalar” olmak üzere üç temel tematik oturum çerçevesinde çok yönlü bir tartışma ve araştırma ortamı sunacaktır.

NEAR Frontiers Çalıştayı | 30 Temmuz–21 Ağustos 2026
NEAR Frontiers Çalıştayı, mimarlık ile nörobilim arasındaki kesişimi uygulamalı deneyler, işbirliğine dayalı araştırma süreçleri ve EEG analizi eğitim programı aracılığıyla ele alan üç haftalık yoğun bir araştırma çalıştayıyla devam edecektir. Çalıştay, katılımcıların deneyimli mentorların rehberliğinde küçük ve disiplinler arası ekipler hâlinde çalışmalarına olanak sağlayan mentorluk temelli bir model doğrultusunda tasarlanmıştır. Bu süreçte katılımcılar yakın etkileşim, eleştirel diyalog ve ortak keşfe dayalı bir çalışma ortamının parçası olacaktır.

NEAR Frontiers 2026 Symposium & Workshop
We are thrilled to announce the NEAR | Neuroscience of Human Experience in Architectural Research Frontiers Symposium & Workshop.
NEAR Frontiers 2026 passionately explores how architecture can draw insights from the brain sciences through a two-part international program that integrates architecture and neuroscience. The NEAR Frontiers Symposium will take place on 27-29 July 2026, followed by the NEAR Frontiers Workshop, which will be held from 30 July to 21 August 2026 at the ARI 3 Building, ITU ARI Teknokent.
Hosted by Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and ITU ARI Teknokent, the event is organized through the collaboration of NEAR Lab (Neuroscience of Human Experience in Architectural Research Laboratory), established within the Faculty of Architecture at ITU, and BBAR Lab (Brain, Behaviour and Architecture Research Laboratory) at Aalborg University, with the support of the TÜBİTAK 2221 Fellowships for Visiting Scientists.
This international event addresses one of the most compelling questions facing architecture today:
“How can architecture benefit from neuroscience, cognitive sciences and digital technologies?”
Positioned at the intersection of architecture, neuroscience, cognitive sciences, and digital technologies, NEAR Frontiers 2026 brings together leading researchers, academics, and professionals from Türkiye and around the world. By fostering an interdisciplinary perspective, the event aims to encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange across research and professional practice. Through keynote lectures, panel discussions, roundtable sessions, and hands-on workshops, the symposium and workshop seek to open new directions for the future of architecture.

The NEAR Frontiers Symposium will bring together distinguished scholars and practitioners to explore the field through three core thematic tracks: “Theory”, “Method”, and “Practice”. NEAR Frontiers Workshop | 30 July–21 August 2026
The NEAR Frontiers Workshop is a three-week intensive research program exploring the intersection of architecture and neuroscience through hands-on experiments, collaborative research, and EEG analysis training. Designed around a mentorship-based model, participants will work in small interdisciplinary teams under the guidance of experienced researchers. The workshop fosters close collaboration, critical dialogue, and shared exploration, creating a unique environment for knowledge exchange between emerging researchers and internationally recognized experts.
